DOCUMENTARY
These paintings are an investigation into Constructivist design, the masking and revealing of histories, and procedural or rule based ways of applying paint. In this pursuit of rule based methods for constructing a painting I employ charts of various foreign affairs like casualties from the U.S. drone program, Afghan opiate production, and Mexican drug cartel smuggling routes. Taking information from these charts and visually merging them to show connections between seemingly disparate occurrences in the world. My paintings hybridize information, abstraction and cartography to form circuitous maps of the situations abroad.
